Isn’t life funny?

Just when you think you have it all figured out, “life” intervenes and throws you, yet another curve ball, but at the last second that curve ball changes directions beams you square in the faces, leaving you wondering, “What the hell just happened?!”

A wise man once told me at any given point in ones life, we are either on our way into turmoil, in the middle of turmoil, or on our way out of turmoil. This is a very interesting concept if you think about it and actually relate it to your life. Look at the last major event in your life and examine where you are at now. Where are you? Is something brewing just waiting to erupt? Are you in the thick of it all searching for the light at the end of the tunnel? Or are you on your way out, thanking God and your family for staying by your side through the tough time?

I am in the thick of it all. Searching for the light at the end of the tunnel. So far, nothing. Yet, I remain positive that the swelling and pain of the curve ball will suppress sooner than later and I’ll be on my way out. Lets just hope it is in fact sooner, than later.

Changes February 10, 2010

There is something to be said about change. Some welcome it with open arms and others run from it as if it is the plague. As humans, we are creatures of habit thus making change rather frighting. However, once in a while change is what gets one through the day. It stirs the pot and brings variety and adventure.

I am in desperate need of change in my life. Working in a dead end job leaves me with little hope and mounds of doubt as to whether or not this madness will end. I sit back and think about the plans I had for my life and how very little is going the way I had anticipated. With that being said, does life ever go as we planned? As I am continually applying, searching, networking, and praying for a life altering opportunity, the rest of my life continues whether I am “there” or not.

Grammar Lesson February 10, 2010

OK, lets get a few things straight here. I am not an English major nor do I clam to have perfectly correct speech. However, I am aware many grammatical errors our society has come to deem as “acceptable”. Which, coincidentally, DRIVE ME INSANE!

1. Their, They’re, and There
Their implys possession
(Their baseball)
They’re is a contraction of they and are
(They’re leaving)
There refers to a place
(There is the store)

2. Is vs. Are
When referring to a subject that is singular, the verb must be in singular form
(There is one left)
When referring to a subject that is plural, the verb must be in plural form
(There are two left)
So many people (myself included until I heard how incorrect it sounds) make the mistake of using a singular verb when talking about a plural subject – usually, only when talking (There is 10 people going) – That is like nails on a chalkboard….

3. “Person and I”
When tagging people in pictures on Facebook it is NOT “Joe and I” because if you took “Joe” out, all you have left is “I”. When talking about yourself, you do not say “This is I” you say “This is Me”.  Further more, you never put yourself
first. “Joe and Me” not “Me and Joe”. I go crazy reading this on people’s pictures. Not to be blunt, but it sounds uneducated and ignorant.

4. “A Fake Lisp”
Seriously?! Why on earth would you want to pretend you have a lisp? What purpose does this serve? Are you trying to be cute? Let me be the first to tell you, that is NOT cute! First, you are being inconsiderately rude to people who deal with a lisp.  Second, you make yourself sound, once again, uneducated. Now, I am not saying people who have a lisp sound uneducated by any means. I am saying when you carry on a normal, intelligent conversation then randomly speak with a lisp… come on, you can see where this is going. You wouldn’t ride around in a wheelchair pretending you cannot walk would you?

How Much Is That Doggie In The Window? February 23, 2009

My love and I adore our Miniature Schnauzer. He is our pride and joy and is closest to children we are brave enough to venture. On a regular basis we like to get him bones from a nearby dog bakery as he is a heavy chewer. However, tonight we didn’t make it to the bakery and were forced to go to a new place. It was called Uncle Bills Pet Store. When I walked in I was surprised to find about 30 puppies. 3 were in open pens on the floor to pet and love and the rest were in cages stacked like apartments. My immediate reaction was “Oh My Gosh! I NEED one!” They were so adorable. It was so tempting to hold one, but I had to restrain because I knew if I did, he or she would be coming home with us.

Luckily, I refrained and walked up to the cash register to purchase our bone for Hugo. (Mind you he is 16 pounds and I got the bone for a 50+ pound dog…) I got up the courage to ask the cashier where their puppies came from, rescues or puppy mills. She immediately put the kibosh on the puppy mill thought and assured me they were all from breeders. I didn’t think any more about it and went on with my night.

After we got home I had a nagging feeling that those puppies could not be from breeders. I searched online and quickly had my suspicions confirmed. Apparently, Uncle Bill’s is the number one protested pet store in the area due to the fact that ALL their puppies come from puppy mills. It broke my heart to know this. I so badly wanted to go buy all the puppies to give them good homes, but from what I read, that is the worst thing you can do. It only adds to the vicious cycle. Old puppy out, new puppy in.

For those who may not know, puppy mills are large scale breeding farms that operate under less than favorable conditions. The puppies usually have temperament issues as well as MANY health issues. They live in overcrowded cages with little love or affection given to them. Why would anyone want to treat a precious, helpless, adorable animal with such disrespect?

I am so happy to know our little guy is not a product of a puppy mill. When we do cross the bridge of getting another dog, we will be going through a rescue or humane society. I refuse to support a puppy mill. What do you decide?

Please join the fight to stop puppy mills.

Save The Drama For Your Mama… February 20, 2009

Drama is something that has a way of sneaking up on you. No matter how hard you try to steer clear from ”it” and cover all the bases in hopes of avoiding “it”, it always wins and rears its ugly head. In turn creating term-oil, frustration, and anxiety. The root of the problem is usually greed, jealousy, or a combination of both.

So with high hopes of avoiding drama in my life I am sucking out the poison and only surrounding myself with positive people who see the glass as half full. As for the Negative Nancys…What goes around, comes around.

Grow up!

Addictions… February 20, 2009

Everyone has an addiction. Right?

“It’s shocking how many kinds of addiction exist. It would be too easy if it were just drugs and booze and cigarettes. I think the hardest part of kicking a habit is wanting to kick it. I mean, we get addicted for a reason, right? Often, too often, things that start out as just a normal part of your life at some point cross the line to obsessive, compulsive, out of control. It’s the high we’re chasing, the high that makes everything else fade away.

The thing about addiction is it never ends well, because eventually, whatever it is that was getting us high stops feeling good and starts to hurt. Still, they say you don’t kick the habit until you hit rock bottom, but how do you know when you’re there? Because no matter how badly a thing is hurting us, sometimes letting it go hurts even worse.” – Grey’s Anatomy Love/Addiction

What’s your addiction?

Happy Valentines Day February 15, 2009

My love and I are not big on Valentines Day. Our philosophy is why only show your love to each other one day a year, when you can every day?  The day is just like any other day to us.

So this year defiantly topped the charts as far as what we did… We watched our dear friends 3 children. Ages 8, 6, and almost 3. Let me tell you, that was the BEST birthcontrol you could ever ask for. I highly recommend it! IF there was ever a thought of having children, any time soon in our minds, that thought is now gone.

We had a really fun time with the kiddos, but when we came home, I needed 2 things.
1. A strong drink
2. A long nap :)

We had planned to go to the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic but the day got away from us. So we’re thinking we might try to go Sunday.

Here’s to showing love.

Traffic February 12, 2009

Dear Traffic,

It has been recently brought to my attention that something is out of “wack” with the excessive amount of traffic flow on 146th street. I am not sure why I am being forced to sit at a light for 10 minutes and have it change 3 to 5 times when I can clearly see there are no accidents or construction incidences. This is unacceptable and frankly entirely inconsiderate. For those of us who might be running late, we do not appreciate our already hetic schedule being disrupted any further. I do promise, if this issue is not resolved soon I will get out of my vehicle and use my designer shoe as a weapon.

Sincerely yours,

Snow flakes Keep Falling On My Head January 30, 2009

I love the peaceful snow-falls of winter. The ones where you curl up under a cozy blanket on the couch with a good book and watch the snow fall. There is no wind, no rain, just snow. White, tiny flecks of sparkly little symmetrical shapes. Listening to the snow  is one of the best parts. I love that it actually has its own sound. It is almost “white noise” meets the “furnace kicking in”. Very calming and tranquil. I love how  the earth looks so still and  perfect, covered in a blanket of glittering diamonds.

This is when the world seems at peace.

I believe in designer shoes but not designer hand bags. Nothing comes close to Stuart Weitzmans. I also believe all beautiful shoes should “live” in their boxes not in shoe racks.

I love when trees are planted in perfect rows.

I love to watch baseball and hockey. Starting the chant “Over Rated” at any sporting event is my life’s simple pleasure. Next to seeing the crowd go wild.

I wish I could join the peace corps. Missions work is the next best thing.

My husband is my best friend, I look up to him and admire his determination and hard work. I love that he believes I should be treated like a princess.

I love to spoil our Hugo puppy.

I loath metal hangers, wearing socks, and all birds. Peacocks, flamingos, and penguins are the exception.

Pink will always be my favorite color.

Ballet is my art. Repetto Rushka Pointe Shoes are my paint brush and the stage is my canvas.

I believe world peace is possible and everything has the potential to be beautiful. Be open minded.

I don’t drink soda, consume dye, or eat red meat.

The glass is ALWAYS half full. If you look hard enough, you can find the good in every situation.

My faith is my foundation.

I believe all we need is love.
